Toyota airbag control unit settlement
$78.5 million settlement — final and paying, claims open into 2028.
Owners alleged ZF-TRW airbag control units in certain 2011–2019 Toyotas could fail from electrical overstress, preventing airbags from deploying. Toyota denies wrongdoing but settled for $78.5 million in cash and credits, plus an extended warranty and loaner program. This settlement is fully final: approved November 28, 2023, last appeal dismissed December 11, 2025. Payments are currently rolling.
